Through songs, hymns, and spiritual songs we seek to biblically, and passionately proclaim the worthiness of our triune God and his story of redemption in our worship gathering (Ephesians 5:18-19).
It is for God’s own pleasure that His saints blend their beings to make one heart and voice of reverence, wonder and passion for Him. Rather than focusing on what we get from worship, we will help the saints give God His glorious praise.
Our worship singing covers the full range of emotions that are found in the Psalms and other scriptures—humility in the face of Jehovah, brokenhearted sorrow over our sin, wonder and awe of Christ’s cross, and His forgiveness and unfailing love. By using a positive emphasis, our worship leading and music leading will display our wondrous God and engage us with Him. Thus, our worship leading will not preach to, nor exhort the congregation but rather, will point to Him.
This gathered worship music fulfills another important role—it is a means to teach one another more of Christ, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16-17). Our music will help us rehearse the foundations of our faith and express our love and joy in our God and our love for others.
